A few inches of snow had been predicted, with rain no less, and we ended up instead with over a foot of gorgeous snow that has continued to stick to the trees. Add some sunshine and it is definitely one of those days to remember. It is also one of those days when photographs don’t come close to reality!
My friend, Rob, who was snowshoeing with me on this glorious morning, had to just stop at one point, put his camera down and let it all in—no lens was big enough, no processing program good enough…thankfully, it was one of those days.
Here are a few more of the woefully inadequate but still enjoyable images from this morning. Please use them as one more reason to go outside…regardless of the weather. In a world saturated lately with fake-this and fake-that and horrifying video clips and news that ties my stomach in knots, it is one of those days when the blue sky, the sun, the trees and, in our case, the snow, all brings me back to the real reality, the one that sustains life no matter what.
Still Learning To See 
Ah, John–you’re so right that these pictures show us the REAL reality. Regardless of the human political and pandemical chaos, snow will still be one of the natural wonders, free to all beings. I love that Rob put his camera down and just took it all in–what sights you two have seen! I remember your trip to Alaska–but in your own backyard lies just as much beauty. Thanks so much for sharing, since Michigan really hasn’t had snow (yet!).

I love this morning walk with you and the way you catch every gem that natures puts before our eyes. The lacy threadlike snow around the beech bud is wonderful. WE are relishing in the beauty here as well. By this afternoon we can finally breath. Dianne
