Still Learning To See

From the top…and along the way

The profile of Camel’s Hump is part of everyday life in Central Vermont, no matter at sunset (shown above from November 2006), moonrise, new snow or glorious fall foliage.

jrs-02811Yesterday friends, Rob and Michael, and I made the trek to the top. The views to the west were completely in the clouds and those to the east showed a surprising amount of fall color already. There were less than a dozen people on top—far fewer than the more than 900 souls the caretaker said were there on Labor Day—and they included friends enjoying joint birthday celebrations!

While I tend toward more gentle walking than climbing mountains, it is always a delight to be out with friends and to see the many small sights along the way.

My muscles were sore this morning but my soul was full and satisfied.
