I believe the greatest way we can honor veterans is to make sure there are no more wars.
Full disclosure: I am not a veteran of military service. During the War in Vietnam, I registered as a conscientious objector.
There are many people who have served in the military for whom I have a great deal of respect. Many of them, because they know the costs, are also some of the biggest proponents of working for peace.
To all the people of this world who have been caught up in war—and are still being caught up, literally millions—today is a day to dream of and work toward ending war forever.
Thanks for posting this. In 1968 after my draft physical I went to the Yale Resistance Office (New Haven, CT) but didn’t like the option of moving to Canada. I spent 4 years in the Navy and was happy that my service was with a Sea Air Rescue group. However I know enough damaged people and hopefully the marmalade hairball won’t create more.
