Two days ago I drove up and around Cabot and the Fall colors were just beginning to show. Today, they are bursting from many of the hills. In a few weeks the leaves will be down. So it goes.
It is like standing on a hill looking back at summer in one direction and ahead to winter in the other, but this moment—full of glorious color—will be more than enough to at least seem to last awhile.
That’s beautiful, John! We are some very lucky folks…Hope you’re doing great!
Indeed we are. Doing very well, thanks.
Ah, the beauty of the seasons–and I smiled to see you using Vonnegut’s signature phrase: “So it goes.” Thanks for sharing.
“So it goes”—seems like that’s all that can be truthfully said some days! Hugs
Hugs RBAY–and here’s another from that wise curmudgeon:
“Hello, babies. Welcome to Earth. It’s hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It’s round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you’ve got about a hundred years here. There’s only one rule that I know of, babies — “God damn it, you’ve got to be kind.” (God Bless You, Mr. Rosewater)
I drove back roads down from the NEK yesterday and practically wept with the beauty around me. You have caught it and I want to fall into each of these photographs and walk about. It happens every year and each year I swear it is more beautiful than the last. Thankfully, we live here and have some solace from the noise of politics. Nice work, John.
P.S. On a separate note, Have you ever thought about being the mayor of our fine city?
yes more than enough to at least seem to last for awhile. thanks for sharing the glory you find, t
