Still Learning To See

Dreaming green

It has been a cold and snowy month in Vermont. On three days in January the temperature climbed above freezing. On at least twelve days it dropped below 0F (-18C) and more sub-zero temperatures are forecast as we head into the first week of February! But those of you who follow me here know that I love winter, always dress for it and venture forth into it with my camera often.

January TemperaturesAll that said, I woke this morning right from being in a very green dream. Perhaps it was prompted from having visited David Hartshorn‘s greenhouse last week where he was growing gorgeous lettuce and basil hydroponically? Or maybe I’m just ready for some green after realizing we are half way through what is truly a cold winter! Who knows?!

The days are getting noticeably longer and the sun higher. Not quite time to order seeds but soon. Maybe instead I’ll go have a fresh salad.
