These damp summer mornings I commonly see drops of water on the edges of many kinds of plants, especially Strawberries and Lady’s Mantel. The physics of the process of guttation—not dew—is as complex as the evidence of it is beautiful. The sight is well worth rising early and wandering into the garden for.

Ok, John–Hermione in the Harry Potter books taught me the word “gobsmacked”, which is exactly how I feel upon learning about “guttation” from you!
