Still Learning To See

Beach art

Back on the Vineyard for a few days with heat and sun and dear old friends. Sitting now on the porch in the cooler shade remembering the photographs I made several years ago here at one of the many fine beaches we visited.

What is art? I’m not sure! I simply know I love the relationships of color, texture, form and shape I so often see in the world. These examples of beach “art” are all the more fascinating to me imagining how they were formed and knowing how temporal they all are. There is nothing I’d change in any of these to “improve” them! I feel I’m simply the person framing the work.

I would be tempted to pick up all those lovely stones and place them in my pocket…so beautiful they each are! And then, would more of the same caliber surface to be framed by yet another? Perhaps better to just leave as they are, “eye candy” without a doubt! Thanks, John, for sharing your lovely perspectives!
