Still Learning To See

Summer clouds

jrs-03499I grew up in Central Michigan where I delighted in watching clouds. You could see them all summer long as the weather came in from the west, tall billowing summer clouds, seen in the distance and, if a storm, roiling by the time they were overhead. We’d watch them come across the lake and race to safety inside the house just before the rains.

Over much of Vermont clouds on the pastoral landscape are just magical.

In the valley where we now live the mountains make for a different view. Clouds suddenly can be upon us, and as a storm approaches they loom and take the sky.

Clouds are so much a part of these summer months. And a delight to watch, at least as long as there is a porch roof for cover if necessary!

  1. Yes, clouds are often beautiful and often fascinating. Great to have a wide open view of them.
