…but not so much yet in Vermont, at least compared to here in Central North Carolina. The politics may not be great but the weather and the grandkids are both fabulous this week.
Growing children are such miracles, especially when they reach the stage of playing Go Fish or waiting for the tooth fairy!
And the trees are growing too! Budding and blooming with some already shedding seed. Redbud, Wisteria, Sweet Gum and Tulip Poplar, Oaks galore and even my old friend American Beech. How quickly it happens. This is a preview of where we’ll be in Vermont in another six weeks or so.
Kids and trees: I’m so fortunate to live in such a beautiful world.
Great post, John–the fresh newness of both Hawk and Wren AND all the trees 🙂 Thanks for sharing–the theme for Earth Day this year is “Trees4Earth”; so nice to focus on these amazing fellow beings instead of HUMAN beings at this point! Safe travels home–
After seeing this beautiful work dear John.. Just have to share Joyce Kilmers thoughts..on “Trees..”
I think that I shall never see
A poem lovely as a tree.
A tree whose hungry mouth is prest
Against the earth’s sweet flowing breast;
A tree that looks at God all day,
And lifts her leafy arms to pray;
A tree that may in Summer wear
A nest of robins in her hair;
Upon whose bosom snow has lain;
Who intimately lives with rain.
Poems are made by fools like me,
But only God can make a tree.
(May the Creator bless you & your lovely family..& all the sensible & sensitive gentle folk.. Yes.. the meek.. on this extraordinary planet..)
