Still Learning To See

Ice…all over again

Ice-6685I fully understand that some may not share my enthusiasm for the fact that we are headed into sub-zero weather this weekend. Last week’s warm weather caused the river ice to break up—fortunately without much flooding—so the water is ready and waiting another quick freeze and the magical spells that come as it turns to ice.

Ice-6739I managed to get an hour in with my camera in Middlesex this week to find big and small pieces of old ice and a few formations of new ice. The varied combinations of the two are fascinating and beautiful. The coming plunge to -15F on Valentine’s Day will create yet another version of this amazing world.
