Still Learning To See

Simplicity

Continuing my exploration of sun, snow and shadows, I had great fun watching the changes on the snow as the clouds moved over and then away from the sun. A very flat, plain scene almost instantaneously became one etched with shadows and dimension.

This scene…

SImple-2-2… was transformed into this when the sun burst through

SImple-2-3

And a simple branch and snow without bright sun…

SImple-2

…took on new meaning with shadows:

SImple-2-4

At the end of a long snowshoe I was rewarded with this lovely, simple horizon in three shades:

SImple-7742

Winter, especially late with the sun gaining height, is such a wonderful time to strip away complexity and reveal simplicity..
