Still Learning To See

A greenness of ferns

This morning the sky is “more blue than I can believe” as a friend says, a color that is such a fundamental part of our human experience of life. In the back yard the ferns have reached their glorious summer heights and a greenness that is also beyond believing. I never tire of seeing them.

LOVE these pictures! Ferns are filters for beauty–I used to take daily pictures of a single unfolding fern over a week with my trusty Olympus OM-10 and 3 close-up lens (so many years ago). The special one for me in this group are the two which resemble seahorses looking at each other 🙂

Ferns are so perfect! I love them and have been transplanting them from other parts of my yard into new shade gardens I’ve been working on this summer. I have also been buying different kinds of ferns and planting them with the others. I just love ferns so much. These pictures are so wonderful John.
