Making room for Spring

It wasn’t that long ago snow still covered the yard. Flying into Burlington on April 3rd Camel’s Hump still looked like this:

On a long walk yesterday in Calais we saw many piles of snow left in the shade of trees or rocks or along roads but we also heard dozens of robins and redwing blackbirds and saw many indications this long winter is nearly over. Here are a few:

There really is nothing more special this time of year than when the trees begin to flower against the distant hillsides.
