Between rain storms, so many delights.
The lovely margins of the seaves of a favorite William Baffin climbing rose…
…and the rose buds and flowers themselves, short-lived and, perhaps, more beautiful because of that.
One of the varieties of Hen & Chicks through up lots of flowers this year, an unexpected treat.
Almost unseen, the tiny flowers of Irish Moss—no bigger than a 12pt “O”—are well worth looking at more closely.
I love the way leaves look when back-lite, in this case a grape leaf.
And the same leaf in different light is also a small miracle of patterns and structure.
This Diantus plant has been growing in our garden for over fifteen years. Who ever would have imagined a small gem like this—the flowers are 1/4″ across—could become such a special friend?!
To say that Crescent butterflies are “common” implies we might not take the time to really see them. What a mistake that is! This is probably a Northern Crescent but I’m not positive as they apparently hybridize readily.
A Clearwing moth is a miracle to behold. Put it on a bright yellow flower like these Sundrops and it brings tears to my eyes!
How says crab grass, this gone to seed, is a weed?
A young bud of Bellflower or some unknown life form?
The flowers of Monarda will come soon; until then, the leaves will do nicely thank you!
Lavender, always a special treat.
Clematis, in bud and…
…in full flower is one of the joys of the July garden.
Thanks John. I love these!
