I’ve not been out much with a camera in hand this week. The leaves are changing fast, and what a joy seeing those changes. The one long hike I took this week, with Rob and Michael and Charlie Cogbill, a well-known, local forest ecologist, was so full of discovery and listening that I could hardly take time to make photos!

The light has been marvelous—cloudy or light overcast—light that brings out the saturated, luminous colors. Photoshop is not needed! So seeing the world—even without a viewfinder—has been pretty special this week.

I’ve been re-visiting some images I made several years ago, all showing what a special place this mountainous state is especially this time of year. Just over 600,000 souls call Vermont home, and over 3 million will visit in this six-week period of Fall foliage. Here’s just a few of the reasons why.
