Still Learning To See

Full moon

Seeing the moon is so often a challenge. “Where the heck is that moon?” I find myself saying. Funny, isn’t it.

The sun is so easy, up and down and only changing slowly through the year (and many don’t even notice that!). But Luna, she disappears in the bright light of most days and again whenever she is small and, if nights are cloudy, she can be “gone” for days on end. Perhaps that is why seeing her is so special even after all these times.

The weather is not promising here for a sighting of the full moon tomorrow night. But this is one from last fall, a lovely as ever.

“As lovely as ever” is certainly right! Thanks for capturing it so well as it passed through those bare fall branches. I’ll look tonight…here in MI I think we have a good chance of seeing it in all its glory!

Ah, so very lovely! I used to have a poster of the calendar year based on moons–an amazing pattern. I love the APOD photo of “Earthshine”, when the new moon is holding the old moon in her arms πŸ™‚

Amazing to think that this incredible moon is the same one I’m seeing on a different side of the planet!
