Still Learning To See

Melting, melting, melting

All around us the snow and ice are melting, leaving Rorschach-like patterns of contrasting light and dark. When I woke up in the night and looked outside, the patterns were stronger than ever with all but the last of the light sucked from the scene.

Huge amounts of energy are required to warm us from winter and even more to melt snow and ice but this mid-March sun has plenty to spare. Sugaring season may already be over. I planted spinach and radishes today and will plant lettuce tomorrow.

Under the melting ice, a world awakens.
