Still Learning To See

A frosty spring morning

Clear night last night with a nearly full moon and this morning the ground was covered with frost. But the sun is so obviously a spring one, bright against the blue sky and warm enough to melt the frost in long strips where it breaks through the trees.

I’m looking forward to a long hike today, seeing what else will come forth in this weather. Every day like this brings some new awakening.

The lichen-covered bark of American Beech (Fagus grandifolia) shadowed by last year's leaves still holding firm.

  1. John, this is one of my favorites. It reminds me of an oriental brush painting.
    Absolutely beautiful-

  2. Thanks. I agree. That is what caught my eye. It almost looks like a “chop” in the lower left corner!
