Still Learning To See

Sun

Today, for the first time since early November, the sun is shining through the kitchen window. Even if for only a few minutes as it rises and finds its way under the neighbor’s eave, it is welcome. It lights up the old Chinese porcelain container I keep my morning tea in, one that has been in my family since my childhood.

Both the sun and the container are reminders of what is truly important in my life.

Thanks, John. Having both the sun in your window and on your much-loved tea container (which I, too, remember fondly!) bring broad smiles to my morning. In just about a month, the sun will begin shining in my yoga room window, casting multiple rainbows on the ceiling and walls as it passes through a prism hanging on the window casing. Each year, there is a heartfelt celebration on that very day…and a great appreciation for the consistent rhythms of life.
