Still Learning To See

Seeing a different view today

A good day to fly. I so enjoy the different view provided by a window seat. I don’t always like what I see but it is fascinating regardless. I’m amazed that the images now available on Google Maps are far better than anything I can make while flying. Many are much better than I can see, even in good weather! Maybe Google Movies are next?

The North Florida shoreline near Jacksonville. I find myself wondering if the experience of "the shore" is even available there.

The Northern Virginia shoreline barely visible under the clouds.

beautiful shots, John. I’ve been fascinated by the way the land looks from the sky for a long time. such a different way to experience it.

When I saw the photo, it looked extremely like where my father has a place further down the FL coast south of Vero Beach. Makes me wonder, like you John, what percentage of the coast line looks exactly like this? My Dad is fortunate though because he has a state park just south of his condo high rise, so a tiny bit of semi “wildness” remains.

    I’m enjoying your blog:-)

    • This area, north of Vero near Crystal River, was odd as are so many along the coast. You could kayak or swim to the springs where the manatees were but you could not walk there as all the surrounding land is private. This may change in the future as the government has negotiated access. Other areas where the manatees rested were roped off and no access of any kind was allowed—except by residents of the large homes on the channels! Such odd juxtapositions.
