It can take only moments these days to find the peace of a good night’s sleep vaporized as the morning headlines scream at me from my screen. I’m not one who is willing to completely turn this confounded machine off, however, a news diet is warranted this morning! And then taking time for a look out the window—a walk too when it warms a bit more—at the gorgeous other “headlines” in the yard announcing the official arrival of Fall.

So much of the news seems to be the same every day with only the headlines changing. Doomscrolling for answers doesn’t work. I need to be here—now!—if I am to do anything useful in the next weeks before this election. And looking at all the late Fall blooms, I know how quickly it will all change with our first frost, whenever that is. Some see that quick change, one we see every year, with sadness. I understand and share a bit of that feeling but I also know life moves on and frost leads to snow and snow to spring, even if we humans have made a mess of the timing of it all. Regardless, the headlines don’t tell me all I need to know—life will go on and we can each simply be here and now with how that looks. The seeds forming today will certainly shape tomorrow’s news.

Thank you for reading and please share this with all you know who might find value in sharing the view out my windows. Please also make sure you have a clear path to voting for JOY in this world on November 5th.

John, I try to tune into the beauty of the woods, garden, & incredible flowers this time of year, yet I get taken down by the possibility that our country could again be in the hands of people that don’t have the good of the people, all the people, in mind. The thought that so many actually would vote for these scoundrels makes my heart hurt.
…back to the flowers and beautiful reds that make themselves known amongst the browns.
