Still Learning To See

Water, so simple, yet…

As I prepare this solo show of some of my photographs of water, I’m continually reminded of the true wonders of the stuff! On the one hand it is “simply” three atoms—two hydrogen and one oxygen—and, yet, when together in a molecule they have unique and remarkable properties. Water is, for instance, the only substance to exist in all three states (solid, liquid, gas) at terrestrial temperatures. Think about it! Whether in the kitchen or just outside the window, all three states commonly exist simultaneously.

While there will be a bit of science in this show, mostly I’ll just tempt viewers to learn more with my photographs celebrating water. Here are several showing how light reflects off the complex surface of a stream. Please note, while I have made some minor adjustments to these in LightRoom, what you see here is basically what I saw at the time I was standing in the water.

The show opens on February 18th and runs through March 17th. If you are in the area, I hope you can join me at the Highland Center for the Arts.
