Since I was a little kid I have always loved picking bouquets from the flower garden. I laugh when I look at the huge shelf we have in our kitchen devoted to vases alone! But why not?! The garden season is too short to not have flowers inside as well as out.
And bouquets offer yet another opportunity to look at flowers through the camera—interesting light, more control than outside and, even if the photographs are not great, a chance to see closely these miraculous living things.
Before a big storm arrived last week I picked a few newly opened single peonies to enjoy, always a delight. This is some of what I was seeing.
I love how you see the tiniest examples of beauty as well as the big ones 🙂 Those little red “dots” on the stamen are such amazing detail. And I agree–bring the flowers inside during the season. I used to fill vases in every room with lilacs for a glorious week.
