I have so looked forward to seeing glaciers in Alaska. Yesterday on the way to McCarthy we saw several. Tomorrow we will get up on one and maybe also fly over several. This is so obviously the front line of climate change. We are not alone on this planet.

Your eyes must be so full of these incredible vistas–glaciers give a whole new feeling of what “time” really means. It’s hard to imagine our impact on climate change could even touch these frozen rivers–but it has, and the planet is poorer for our incursions. Reading John Muir’s account of glaciers has been my only grasp on them–and there you are, in their presence. Thanks again for sharing.
What fun to see these pictures, John! I am now adding this to my “stop working and go travel there soon” list! Incredible….thanks for sharing your adventures.
We hiked that glacier with a woman who lived 20 miles out of Tel Aviv! Yes, it is a special place I hope you will visit one day before too long. xo
