Still Learning To See

Looking up

I find it easy to forget to look up. Some of the best seeing is up there. I’ve been looking up in the tops of trees a lot this week seeing their seeds. I could still find seed of fifteen species without much effort, though to be honest in two cases the seed was only on the ground.

Birds too. I love it when they seem to be throwing themselves like specs of pepper across the sky. This morning I watched a crow pummeled along by the wind.

But today was a day of what I term “water-color sky.” I don’t know if others use that term but it describes well for me what I see: dark clouds and light with the intense blue that comes by way of contrast to both. What I love most is the sky constantly changing. Makes me glad I’m making digital images rather than film as days like this used to be very expensive ones!

Another day but a similar sky over Sparrow Farm
