Still Learning To See

Changing my point of view

One of the things I’ve learned about making photographs is to move around. If the photograph is not the one I’d hoped to see, that one may be just a step or two away. I’ve found this especially true for reflections off water where even a small change in my point of view often results in a very different view of the scene.

Of course the new image is not always “better” but a move does mean I gain a chance to see newly and find something that is more satisfying.

Interesting to consider how wedded I so often become to the place I am. Sometimes I’m even stuck. Simply moving may bring new seeing.

Another view of fall foliage reflected in water, this from a slightly different point of view than yesterday's photograph.

Oh my, John. I find such wisdom on your words today…regarding not just photography but life itself: “even a small change in my point of view often results in a very different view of the scene” and “Interesting to consider how wedded I so often become to the place I am.” Both simple and yet amazingly profound. thanks much, Karen
